The National Center for Industrial Property Information and Training provides Patent Search Competition every year. The Patent Search Competition is held to evaluate the abilities of patent searchers and to enhance incentives for patent searchers in Japan. The searchers compete in abilities and techniques in comprehensive patent searches using keywords and classification, screening ability, recognitional capacity of the search results, abilities to analyze information from the search results and ability to provide advice based on the search results. In 2010, 169 patent searchers attended the competition, and 148 people attended in 2011. Our searcher, Mr. Yuichiro Nakayama, won a prize in both 2010 and 2011 in this competition.
